Brown Campaign Releases TV Ads

Brown Campaign Releases Ads Highlighting Brown's California Police Chiefs Endorsement and Warning Voters About Poochigian's Extremist Record

The Jerry Brown for Attorney General campaign today released four campaign television spots highlighting the endorsement of Brown by the California Police Chiefs and warning voters about Charles Poochigian’s record of being too extreme for California.

The first ad stars the President of the California Police Chief’s Assocition, Steve Krull who talks about why his organization endorsed Brown over Poochigian and points out Brown’s record of being tough on crime. It also highlights Jerry Brown’s overwhelming support from dozens of police associations, deputy sheriffs, police chiefs, and individual law enforcement officers across California. Steve Krull, President of the California Police Chiefs Association says, “When the California Police Chiefs decided to endorse a candidate for Attorney General, we interviewed both candidates –We looked at their experience and their records in Law Enforcement. And Jerry Brown is clearly the better choice for California.”

The other ads warn voters about Legislator Charles Poochigian’s horrendous environmental record, his extreme opposition to stem cell research, his opposition to a woman’s right to choose, and his support for 50 Caliber Sniper rifles capable of shooting through two police cars. The TV spots will begin airing statewide tomorrow morning.

One spot warns the public that Charles Poochigian wanted to legalize 50 Caliber BMG Sniper Rifles. The 4 ½ foot-long weapons fire one of the world’s largest bullets that can penetrate 3 ½ inches of raw steel. In the spot, a police captain says, “One round from a 50 caliber assault rifle is capable of passing through two police cars and come out the other side and still kill you. California’s police wanted to ban it. But career legislator Charles Poochigian voted to keep these 50 caliber killing machines legal.”

Another spot warns the public about Charles Poochigian’s extreme opposition to Roe v. Wade and a woman’s right to choose. Kathy Kneer, Planned Parenthood President explains how “[Poochigian] is running for Attorney General…and he wants to outlaw abortion and overturn Roe v. Wade.”

The last spot warns California voters that Charles Poochigian is an extremist who stood with George Bush and cannot be trusted to protect the environment, to protect a woman’s right to choose, to defend stem cell research and to safeguard the public from dangerous weapons.

Polls show Jerry Brown leads Poochigian by over 20 points. Jerry Brown has $6 million in the bank. Since the last reporting period, Brown has continued to out-fundraise Poochigian by over a 3 to 1 ratio.
