WORLD PREMIERE: POOCHIGIAN SCOFFS AT GUN LAWS!

Chuck Poochigian’s fringe voting record is exposed yet again in the world premiere of another YouTube documentary entitled “Poochigian Scoffs at Gun Laws.” Last month, a similar film “Poochigian’s Toxic Legacy” examined Poochigian’s abysmal environment record.

The Million Mom March and the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun violence call on Senator Chuck Poochigian to acknowledge that common-sense gun laws in California have saved lives. The Million Mom March and Brady Campaign were responding to Poochigian’s recent comments in the Los Angeles Times:

"You think one life has been saved?" Poochigian asked me, referring to all the gun restrictions and sounding uncharacteristically agitated.

"I mean, some of this stuff sounds good. The bottom line is public safety. The bottom line is are innocent people being harmed … " He stopped in mid-sentence, but I think he wanted to talk about innocent gun owners being harassed while gun-toting criminals go free — the usual gun lobby spiel.

In the documentary, Griffin Dix, President of the California Chapters of the Million Mom March says:

“We don’t want our law enforcement to be outgunned, they have a tough enough job as it is. We need an attorney general who will enforce the laws that make California safer. Poochigian scoffs at these laws. His views are extremist.”

Ellyne Bell, California State Director for the Brady Campaign says:

“Fortunately, in California we have some of the best gun laws in the entire nation and we need an attorney general who will pledge to uphold those strong gun laws. Poochigian has a long record of trying to undetermined reasonable regulations against California’s most dangerous military style weapons.”

Chuck Poochigian has opposed many reasonable public-safety gun measures that were signed into law including: AB 491 (criminal liability when kids access improperly stored guns—signed by Wilson), AB 1221 (banning concealed weapons ammunition sales to minors—signed by Wilson), AB 991 (requiring registration of guns brought into California—signed by Wilson), SB 63 (requiring gun dealers to alert DOJ when weapons go unclaimed—signed by Wilson), AB 50 (ban 50 Caliber BMG Sniper Rifles—signed by Schwarzenegger), AB 70 (exempt certain gun sales from 15-day waiting period—vetoed by Wilson and supported by Poochigian).

In 1995, at a Denver Colorado Grocery Store, Albert Petrosky fired at police officers with a 50 Caliber BMG Rifle and actually shot through two cars. To protect the safety of law enforcement and the public at large, the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence and the Million Mom March supported AB 50, to ban 50 Caliber BMG Sniper Rifles in California. This which was opposed by Poochigian was signed into law by Republican Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.
